ChairmanAsian Institute of Chartered Bankers
Tan Sri Azman Hashim has been in the banking industry since 1960 when he joined Bank Negara Malaysia. He practised as a Chartered Accountant in Azman Wong Salleh and Co. from 1964 to 1971. He was on the board of Malayan Banking Berhad from 1966 to 1980 and was its Executive Director from 1971 until 1980. He was the Executive Chairman of Kwong Yik Bank Berhad, a subsidiary of Malayan Banking Berhad, from 1980 until 1982 when he acquired AmInvestment Bank Berhad.
Tan Sri Azman is Chairman of the Asian Institute of Finance Berhad, Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers, Asian Banking School Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Investment Banking Association, the Malaysia Productivity Corporation, Malaysia South-South Corporation Berhad and Chairman Emeritus of Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC).
He is the President of Malaysia South-South Association, Malaysia-Japan Economic Association, Malaysian Prison FRIENDS Club and a Member of the APEC Business Advisory Council and East Asia Business Council. He is also the Leader of the ASEAN Japanese Business Meeting (Malaysia Committee, Keizai Doyukai). He is the Pro-Chancellor of Open University of Malaysia and a member of the Governing Body of Asian Productivity Organisation.
Tan Sri Azman is also involved in several charitable organisations as Chairman and Trustee of AmGroup Foundation and Perdana Leadership Foundation and Trustee for Yayasan Azman Hashim, Malaysian Liver Foundation, Yayasan Tuanku Najihah and Yayasan Canselor Open University Malaysia. Tan Sri Azman is also the Founder and Council Member of Azman Hashim Family (L) Foundation and Azman Hashim Charitable (L) Foundation.
Managing DirectorGlobal Ethical Finance Initiative
Omar Shaikh is the Director and Co-founder of the Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI).
A Chartered Accountant by profession, he specialises in ethical/responsible finance, Islamic finance and private equity. He has extensive experience in financial services, has advised multiple governments and regulators on financial inclusion policy and for over 15 years has been a leading advocate for ethical and responsible finance. His background includes working with EY London where he was former Head of Islamic finance.
Omar launched the award-winning Edinburgh Ethical Finance Round Table series, a platform that led to the inception of the Ethical Finance Hub and GEFI. Through his work he has established a number of initiatives, including the Ethical Finance Summit (a major conference), the finance for nature project with UNDP creating innovative financing structures for the SDGs and the interfaith Edinburgh Finance Declaration. GEFI has recently launched the Path to COP26 campaign, bringing together stakeholders to advance climate finance ahead of the crucial 2021 Glasgow summit.
Omar received a BAcc from the University of Glasgow, is a member of ICAS and holds select board advisory roles including with the Prince’s Trust Scotland and supporting Glasgow Museums on preserving South Asian Heritage in Scotland.
ChairmanMalaysia International Islamic Finance Centre
Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar is currently the Chairman of the Malaysia International Islamic Finance Centre (MIFC) Leadership Council, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and the Chairman of INCEIF University (The International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance). Between June 2004 and July 2018, he was the Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”), Malaysia’s strategic investment fund. From December 2021 to December 2023, he was the Chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji Malaysia (Hajj Pilgrims Fund Board).
His other current affiliations include as a member of the Global Future Council on Investing of the World Economic Forum (Davos), a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI), Edinburgh, a Development Leadership Dialogue Fellow at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, a member of the Investment Advisory Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a board member of MERCY Malaysia, an international humanitarian NGO. Between 2019 and 2022, Azman was a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Centre of Development Studies, University of Cambridge and a Bye-Fellow of Darwin College, Cambridge.
Azman obtained an M.Phil in Development Studies (with distinction) from Darwin College, Cambridge University, as a Chevening scholar, and a Diploma in Islamic Studies from International Islamic University Malaysia. In 2018, he was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Letters from Wawasan Open University, Malaysia. He is also a CFA Charter Holder and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA).
His professional accolades include as the Chairman of the Year 2017, Malaysia (by MSWG-ASEAN Corporate Governance), Value Creator for Outstanding CEO of Malaysia 2016 (The Edge), Most Outstanding Individual for contributions to Islamic Finance (by KLIFF, 2011) and the Special Humanitarian Award by MERCY Malaysia (2019).
Chief Sustainability OfficerAmBank Group
Amanah Aboobucker is a senior banking and finance practitioner, with extensive multi-geography experience, covering businesses in Malaysia, Singapore, and major markets of the Asia Pacific. She has cross franchise experience covering corporate, commercial and investment banking, having served in various capacities in Risk Management, External and Internal Audit, Compliance, Product and Relationship Management. She has previously worked with KPMG and Citigroup in Malaysia and was formerly the Asia Region Head for Citigroup’s debt restructuring division for the Commercial Bank, based in Singapore. She joined the AmBank Group in October 2016 driving the Group’s transformation program to build a robust culture of compliance and conduct, to achieve long-term sustainability and stability for the organisation. Amanah was appointed the Chief Sustainability Officer of AmBank Group in June 2023. She is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Banker.
General Manager, SustainabilitySecurities Commission Malaysia
Azreen Idayu Zainal is a General Manager in the Sustainability department of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC). She leads the development of sustainable investment strategies and policies for the Malaysian capital market, and their implementation since 2014. Azreen is instrumental in the development of Sustainable and Responsible Investment (SRI) Roadmap for the Malaysian Capital, and many other SRI initiatives. Azreen is the Chair of Sub-committee 3 (Product and Innovation) of the Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3), an initiative established to pursue collaborative actions for building climate resilience within the Malaysia financial sector.
At the regional level, Azreen is involved in developing sustainable finance initiatives for the ASEAN capital markets, through SC’s co-chairmanship of the Sustainable Finance Working Group of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum and SC’s membership in the ASEAN Taxonomy Board.
Azreen regularly represents the SC at various speaking engagements on sustainability regionally and internationally.
Azreen joined the SC in 2010 where she was involved in the formulation and implementation of the Capital Market Masterplan 2, the 10-year strategy blueprint for the Malaysian capital market. Azreen started her career in PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2002 until 2010 prior to joining the SC. Azreen is a Fellow Chartered Accountant of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Head of Power & UtilitiesCarbon Tracker Initiative
Christopher has worked in the global energy markets for over 23 years with a focus on power sector fundamentals, infrastructure and regulation. He has authored numerous analytical reports and led strategic consultancy on global energy issues encompassing critical issues such as security of supply, energy transition, technological and infrastructural impediments, market and price design.
He spent 10 years at IHS Markit (formerly IHS CERA, now S&P Global) heading power research for the company’s integrated Russian and Caspian Energy Service, as well as senior director and thought leader in IHS Markit’s Global Power and Renewables service. Amongst his achievements at IHS Markit, was being awarded State medal for professional contribution to the strategic development of Kazakhstan’s power and utilities’ sector and commitment to energy transition.
Before joining IHS Markit, Christopher founded SEEPX Energy where he advised on power sector strategy for international companies in the UK, Europe, Balkans, Russia, Central Asia and Pakistan.
He began his energy career in power trading, negotiating multi-million pound power contracts between energy companies. During this time, he also advised and managed a major client’s trading portfolio during the Enron collapse.
He completed his formal education in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, where he served for eight years and achieved Best Recruit.

Laura Canas da Costa is a Senior Global Policy Expert at UNEP FI, leading UNEP FI’s policy and regulatory work in the Asia-Pacific region. Laura has over 10 years of experience in sustainable finance across the private, public and non-profit sectors as well as academia. Prior to joining UNEP FI, she was a Sustainable Finance Policy Manager at Credit Suisse, responsible for monitoring and evaluating sustainable finance policy trends globally. Before joining Credit Suisse in 2019, Laura worked for the WWF-Switzerland to develop a strategy for sustainable infrastructure finance. Laura also has previous experience working in private equity as well as development finance. Her academic background is in international relations (London School of Economics) as well as public policy (Hertie School of Governance and Sciences Po Paris). Laura also carries out a number of teaching mandates on sustainable finance, for example at University St Gallen as well as University of Zurich.

Maria Eugenia Sosa Taborda is the Regional Coordination and Membership Manager for UNEP-Financial Initiative. She has more than 18 years of experience with disseminating and consolidating corporate social responsibility strategy in large companies, sustainable finance, and developing innovative projects with positive impacts. She worked for 11 years in the financial sector with different subjects: Financial Education and Social, Entrepreneurship, and Environmental Risks and Opportunities working directly with varying business units: Investments, Credit, and Insurance. Maria Eugenia graduated in business administration at PUCCAMP and holds a Master's Degree from USP (São Paulo University) focusing on social impact.

Tuan Mohammed Rashdan Mohd Yusof is currently the Chairman of the Energy Commission. He has over 26 years of experience in the corporate finance and investment banking industry, corporate consultancy and the financial services sector. He served as Executive Director (Investments) of Khazanah Nasional Berhad from 2010 to 2012 and as Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, he was the Managing Director of BinaFikir Sdn Bhd from 2003 to 2008 and was the Managing Director of QuantePhi Sdn Bhd, a boutique corporate finance advisory firm he founded in 2012, until December 2017. He joined Gamuda on 1 May 2018 as the Deputy Group Managing Director and was appointed as the Alternate Director to Dato' Lin Yun Ling on 28 September 2018.

Moreen Joseph is Executive Director and the Chief Sustainability Officer at United Overseas Bank Malaysia (UOBM). Her role is to drive UOB Malaysia’s sustainability strategy and objectives of helping businesses transition to a sustainable future and fostering social and environmental well-being among colleagues and communities.
Moreen is also currently the co-chair for JC3 (Joint Committee on Climate Change) SME Focus Group, a collective effort amongst regulators, bankers, insurance providers and relevant ministries to raise the country’s SME awareness and adoption of ESG.
Internally, she chairs the Country Sustainability Committee and holds positions in various management committees.
She has in-depth exposures working with international management consulting firm, regulator, large local bank and have been with UOB for the past 9 years. Assistant Vice President, Business Development & Sales, Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX)Bursa Malaysia Berhad
Muhammad Rizal Azmi has over 18 years of experience across power, renewables and sustainability. Starting as a production engineer, he transitioned to business development at Malakoff Corporation, Malaysia’s largest power producer. Between 2015-2017, he undertook a passion project in organic farming, before returning to corporate business development roles under the ENGIE Group as well as a local solar engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) company - Plus Xnergy.
Rizal’s foray into the carbon industry started with him joining Bureau Veritas, a leading carbon validation & verification body (VVB). He currently heads the Business Development and Sales Unit at BCX, playing a key role in shaping the future of voluntary carbon trading. Rizal is an engineering graduate of University Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and holds a MicroMasters in Sustainable Energy from University of Queensland (UQx).

Nicole is a professional with experience working at the intersection of business strategy, sustainable finance and financial technology. Prior to joining Planet Tracker, Nicole was the EMEA Head of Client Relations at Bloomberg LP, where she was responsible for delivering a board-sponsored strategy to align the company’s external relations and philanthropy programmes for the benefit of Bloomberg’s core business. Nicole holds a MA in International Political Economy from King’s College London and a BA in European Studies from the University of Bremen. She has completed the CFA Level 4 certification in ESG Investing and is both a Young SDG Innovator graduate and a member of the UN Global Compact Network UK.

Sagarika is an international sustainability professional with 20+ years' experience in climate change and responsible investment, collaborating across the UN system and private finance sector. She led the PRI’s global climate change programme and is the UN-convened Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance secretariat co-head. She also launched the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero with COP26 Private Finance Hub while on secondment to UNFCCC High-level Champions.
Her key focus areas include financing opportunities in developing countries, the net-zero transition, adaptation and resilience, and nature. She previously led investment industry work on climate and environmental issues, has worked in commercial roles, and has board experience.

Salman leads Jupiter’s Global Islamic Strategy. He has been an early pioneer and thought leader in Tayyib investing: combining traditional exclusion-based shariah investing with pro-active ESG engagement. He is part of a Global Steering Committee on Tayyib Investing convened by Global Ethical Finance Initiative and UK Islamic Finance Council. He has participated in many high profile industry events and panels including most recently at COP28 in Dubai. Salman joined Jupiter in June 2017 as an Investment Manager in Global Emerging Markets Equities. Prior to this, he spent a decade at Nomura Asset Management where he led the firm’s Emerging Frontier, Africa, MENA and Turkey fund strategies. He has over 20 years’ experience, including 5 years with Deloitte in Audit and Corporate Finance. Salman started his career as an Equity Capital Markets analyst at Citigroup in 2001. Salman is a Chartered Accountant and has an MA from Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics & Economics.

Stella Cox CBE, has worked within the Islamic financial marketplace for more than 30 years. Since 1998, she has been the Managing Director of DDCAP Group, which is a leading provider of capital market intermediary services and related technology solutions to Islamic financial market institutions.
Since 2015, Stella has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the RFI Foundation, which acts as a catalyst to link together responsible & Islamic finance, and she represents DDCAP within the Islamic Finance and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Taskforce, the inaugural meeting of which took place in July 2020, convened by the Islamic Finance Council UK (UKIFC) in partnership with the UK Government. Since 2014, Stella has been Chair of the Islamic Finance Market Advisory Group formed by TheCityUK and she represents DDCAP on the UK Islamic Fintech Panel.
In June 2016, Stella was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). Stella was honoured for her services to the economy and, specifically, as a Champion for the Development of Islamic Finance in the UK. Stella was ranked number 1 among the "100 Most Influential Women in Islamic Finance" in the ISFIRE "WOMANi 2018" Report and was appointed Patron-in-Chief of WOMANi in April 2019. In July 2019, Stella became a Freeman of the City of London.

Dame Susan Rice, a Chartered Banker, chairs the Financial Services Culture Board and was founding chair of the Chartered Banker: Professional Standards Board. She also chairs Scottish Water, Business Stream and the Scottish Fiscal Commission, Scotland’s independent economic and fiscal forecaster. In addition, she is Senior Independent Director of J Sainsbury, and of the North American Income Trust. The first woman to head a UK clearing bank, she was Chief Executive and Chairman of Lloyds TSB Scotland plc, then Managing Director of Lloyds Banking Group. She was previously a Non-Executive Director of the Bank of England and energy company SSE. She has helped develop approaches to social finance in the US and UK, led work on cultural and ethical standards for bankers, chaired Scotland’s 2020 Climate Group and now works with P-CAN. Previously, she was Senior Vice President at NatWest Bancorp in New York and, earlier in her career, a Dean at Yale and Colgate Universities in America and a published medical researcher. At GEFI, Susan oversees the activities as Chair of the Global Steering Group.

Ms Nurul Syaheedah is the COO and Co-Founder of Pantas, a leading climate technology solutions provider in Southeast Asia. With a mission to revolutionize the business landscape through sustainable practices, Pantas serves a wide array of industries including manufacturing, hospitality, agriculture, property development, logistics, and finance. Operating primarily in Malaysia, Pantas has recently expanded its services to Thailand and Indonesia.
Ms Syaheedah is the principal trainer for the Greening Value Chain (GVC) Programme, a distinguished initiative in collaboration with the Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM). Her expertise was further spotlighted as a panelist at the International Conference in Yogyakarta, under the banner of Indonesia G20. In 2023, she delivered a compelling keynote on "AI-Powered Carbon Management Solution" at the BOT Digital Finance Conference, an esteemed event by the Central Bank of Thailand. Her insights, sought after by many, have graced platforms like the Malaysian Forestry Research Institute (FRIM), Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) and KPMG Singapore.
Before founding the climate technology company, Ms Syaheedah was a Director at Third Point, a New York-based hedge fund. Before joining Third Point, Ms Syaheedah was an Assistant Vice President at Citigroup and at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Ms Syaheedah started her career on Wall Street when she joined Merrill Lynch's CFO Analyst Program.
Secretary-GeneralGlobal Alliance for a Sustainable Planet
Satya S. Tripathi is the Secretary-General of the Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet. A development economist, lawyer and changemaker with over 40 years of varied experience, Mr Tripathi is the Chancellor of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences – the world’s largest academic institution dedicated exclusively to indigenous people and cultures. He is also a Senior Distinguished Fellow on Innovative Finance at the World Agroforestry Centre. He has served with the UN for over two decades in key positions globally and was most recently the UN Assistant Secretary-General, Head of New York Office at UN Environment and Secretary of the UN Environment Management Group.
His other strategic engagements with the UN include: Head of Human Rights Investigations for the UN in post-war Bosnia (UNMIBH); Chair of the Committees on Laws, Treaties and Administrative matters for the UN-mediated Cyprus unification talks in 2004; UN Recovery Coordinator for Aceh and Nias where he facilitated international cooperation and funding of over US$7 billion for post-tsunami recovery efforts in support of the government and affected populations; and Executive Head of UNORCID, a UN System Office established by the UN Secretary General in 2011 to facilitate the implementation of a US$1 Billion REDD+ partnership between Indonesia, Norway and other stakeholders.
Mr Tripathi was instrumental in establishing the Tropical Landscapes Finance Facility (TLFF) in Indonesia in 2016 and the Sustainable India Finance Facility (SIFF) in 2017 to leverage ‘private finance for public good’ at a mega-scale to achieve transformative social and environmental impact for millions of people in developing countries. He previously served on the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Forests.
