AICB, together with the Chartered Banker Institute (CBI), UK and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA), conducted a joint international webinar, “The Future of Banking: Overcoming the Impacts of COVID-19”, on 14 May 2020 @ 3 pm. Moderated by Chris Whitehead, CEO and Managing Director of FINSIA, the discussion centred on the strategies implemented by banks to support their organisations and people during these unprecedented times. Key representatives from Citibank Malaysia, ING Bank Australia and United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) shared their views on the various measures implemented by their respective Governments to ease the burden of citizens amid the COVID-19 pandemic, how the current situation is changing employers’ perception of remote-work policies, and how employees are taking to the new normal of working from home. Over 400 individuals attended the webinar and participated in a poll that canvassed their views on the economic outlook for next year, whether Governments are doing enough to assist their people in this climate of uncertainty, and whether the initiatives implemented by banks thus far have made a positive impact on society.
