AICB and the Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3) organised a webinar titled “Social Sustainability Towards a Just Transition” on 17 January 2023 @ 2 pm, as part of the initiatives under the JC3 Upskilling Sustainability Training (JUST) Series 4 banner. Shahril Azuar Jimin, Chief Sustainability Officer, Maybank and Deputy Chair, JC3 SC4 began the session with an opening speech, followed by Dr Vong Sok, Head of Environment Division & Assistant Director of Sustainable Development Directorate of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Department, with the keynote address. Thereafter, Faroze Nadar, Executive Director, United Nations Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei, shared some context on social capital and its alignment with the UN SDGs, while Shahril of Maybank gave his views on facilitating social impact from the perspective of a practitioner. Finally, Simon Robinson and Alisha Lewis from B4SI Asia Pacific presented their thoughts on identifying metrics to quantify social impact. The speakers then joined Navina Balasingam, General Manager of Capital Markets Malaysia, for the Fireside Chat segment, where they shared further insights on the topic and engaged with the audience via several Q&As. The webinar was attended by close to 400 individuals.
