AICB and the Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3) organised a webinar titled “A Passion for Purpose: Delivering a Just Transition to Net Zero” on 5 October 2022 @ 2.15 pm, as part of the initiatives under the JC3 Upskilling Sustainability Training (JUST) Series 3 banner. The session commenced with the opening address by Junior Cho, Country Head of Zurich Malaysia, followed by a presentation on the levers of net zero for the finance sector by John Scott, Head of Sustainability Risk at Zurich Insurance Group, UK. Tracy Wong Harris, Head of Sustainable Finance Asia at Standard Chartered, Hong Kong, then shared practical examples from the banking sector on the various initiatives to facilitate decarbonisation and transition towards renewable energy resources. Discussions also centred on the importance of creating conditions conducive for the private finance sector to finance sustainable infrastructure and support the transition of carbon intensive industries into renewables and green-tech behemoths. To end the session, Mohd Suhaimi Abdul Hamid, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Saadiq Malaysia, delivered the closing address. The webinar was moderated by Teresa Wong, Chief Risk Officer of Zurich General Insurance Malaysia Berhad, and was attended by over 300 individuals.
