AICB and the Chartered Banker Institute (CBI), UK, hosted the Chartered Banker Annual Banking Conference 2021 from 21–23 September 2021. This three-day virtual conference comprised a series of short, insightful sessions on current issues and challenges faced by banks today, with a special focus on what responsible banking means for banks. The overarching theme for this year’s conference, “Responsible Banking and the Implementation of International Standards”, considered, among other things, how well banks are embedding the UN Principles of Responsible Banking in their organisations, the components of responsible banking, and what it means for the education, training and development of bankers. The line-up of speakers included leading experts from Maybank and CIMB Malaysia; the National Australia Bank; Cathay Financial Holdings, Taiwan; the UNEP FI, Germany; Hong Kong Institute of Bankers; Standard Chartered Bank, Singapore; ING Bank, The Netherlands; and the Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance.
